‘Fast and Furious’ Director Justin Lin to Direct ‘One Punch Man’ Movie

Date:

Fast and Furious Director Justin Lin to launch his Manga directing career with ‘One Punch Man’ movie

Production is set to begin at the end of 2022 for ONE’s “One Punch Man” which features a  manga hero who can defeat his enemy with, you guessed it, one punch. The movie is set to be turned into an exciting live-action film by no less than Fast X Director Justin Lin.

Lin will also come in as a producer together with Avi Arad of Arad Productions. Meanwhile, script writing will be led by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg. Backing them is Sony Productions which was awarded rights to begin filming in the last quarter of 2022.

Lin recently left Fast X as the director just a few days after production began, but will remain as producer. The One-Punch Man anime series currently has two seasons under its belt and features 26 volumes in total with more premiering soon.

In an emotional statement to Hypebeast, Lin said that “With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step back as director of FAST X, while remaining with the project as a producer. Over 10 years and five films, we have been able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts, and the best damn car chases. On a personal note, as a child of Asian immigrants, I am proud of helping to build the most diverse franchise in movie history. I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew, and studio for their support, and for welcoming me into the FAST family.”
