Dwayne Johnson Reveals Why He Wants to Run for President

Date:

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson said that Americans may one day see The Rock running for president.

Johnson, who became famous for saying catch phrases and charisma in his pro wrestling days, was hit with a media storm in March when he shared an article on Twitter that claimed people were “loudly clamoring” for him to run on the GOP ticket.

Johnson, 44, told Michael Strahan in an interview that aired today on “Good Morning America” the idea of his future in politics is “very real.”

“This interesting ground swell that has happened on the idea of my being president one day has become a legit thing to some people,” Johnson said.

Johnson continued by saying that “100% percent certainty,” and he would listen to the “temperature of the American” people.

“If it is a very real, overwhelming, positive, strong, ‘We want you to run for president,’ and if I felt that I can step up to the plate and become a tremendous leader for our country and make a real difference and make change, I would do it,” he said.

But, would Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson be a Republican or Democrat? According to reports, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is a registered Republican and was recently featured in a Chris Christie, a former Republican Presidential Nominee, video.

And Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson was also a guest at the 2000 Republican Convention. You can watch his speech below.

But at the end of the day, the highest paid actor in the world says he still wants to concentrate on acting for right now. In fact, he says his character on “Ballers” is one of the greatest things he has ever been able to do.

“One of the greatest things for me personally about the character is I’ve never played a character who is so close to my heart,” Johnson, a former University of Miami football star, told Strahan, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
He added, “Down in South Florida, I live that life. I know what it’s like, and I also know what it’s like to transition out of football at a time, much like my character in ‘Ballers,’ where I wasn’t ready to give up football.”
