50 Cent's racism claims may have worked. Starz and AT&T make a deal after racism allegations.
AT&T and premium cable channel Starz have agreed to continue their relationship, following negotiations and claims of racism from “Power” executive producer 50 Cent.
Both groups were at a standstill approaching a deadline that would make the station, the second-most popular on AT&T's U-Verse platform according to Starz, making it unavailable to customers. Deal points were resolved on Saturday, according to TheWrap.
“AT&T and STARZ have reached an agreement to continue our long-standing relationship,” a rep for the channel said in a statement.
Prior to the resolution, 50 Cent aka Curtis Jackson took to Instagram to call out AT&T suggesting the telecom giant was prejudiced.
“Man I'm sorry I have to say this, but AT&T is racist they have had issues in the past and here we go again,” Jackson wrote on Instagram. “500,000 homes will not be able to view the next episode of POWER. #EFFENVODKA #FRIGO #SMSAUDIO”
Jackson posted several more times about the subject, the last post featuring the Comcast and Time Warner Cable logos and urging AT&T customers to switch providers. “If your a fan of POWER and you have AT&T as a cable carrier, you will no longer see it,” he wrote. “Switch to Anything but AT&T.”
