Jesse Armstrong Weighs in on the Possibility of an HBO ‘Succession‘ Spinoff Series
Jesse Armstrong remains open to the possibility of a spinoff from Succession.
Recently, the brains behind the beloved HBO series that is, unfortunately, ending with its upcoming fourth season was interviewed by The Guardian and addressed any potential to revisit the show in the future. “I think that this succession story that we were telling is complete,” Armstrong said. “This is the muscular season to exhaust all our reserves of interest, and I think there’s some great pain in all these characters. But the feeling that there could be something else in an allied world, allied characters, or some of the same characters is also strong in me. I caveated the end of the show when I talked to some of my collaborators like Maybe there’s another part of this world we could come back to if there were an appetite?”
While Armstrong appears intent on revisiting the Roys, HBO CEO Casey Bloys indicated that the show would gain little from zeroing in solely on one character. “It doesn’t seem to me that there’s something in Succession where you would go, ‘Let’s follow just this kid’ or whatever,’” he divulged to Variety.
Season four of Succession is set to provide answers for its viewers, as it will reveal what’s in store for Waystar Royco and Lukas Matsson’s acquisition. Most importantly, we may finally discover who will take the reins from Logan Roy and if the company survives this impending takeover.
