Fox cancels ‘The Mindy Project’ but, the show may resume on Hulu.
Fox has decided to pull the plug on ‘The Mindy Project,’ after three seasons. However, Hulu is currently in talks with Universal Television, the studio behind the Mindy Kaling TV series, to take over the streaming service for multiple seasons. The deal would reportedly include two new seasons, and possibly several more.
‘The Mindy Project’ premiered to an audience of about 4.6 million in 2012 but over the past three seasons, viewers stopped watching and by 2015 ratings hit 2 million viewers.
‘The Mindy Project’Â follows obstetrician/gynecologist Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) as she tries to balance her personal and professional life, surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small medical practice in New York City. The character was inspired by Kaling’s own mother, an OB/GYN. Mindy explores through life with the help of her co-workers.
Hulu just inked a major syndication deal for the entire ‘Seinfeld’ library, and an output deal with AMC, acquiring the streaming rights to “The Walking Dead” spinoff “Fear the Walking Dead.”
