This Man Allegedly Murdered and Burned Missing ‘Food Network Star’ and her husband.
The man suspsect in an strange North Carolina missing persons case has been arrested and charged in the deaths of former Food Network Star contestant Cristey Schoen Codd and her husband Joseph “J.T.” Codd, a movie crew member.
According to Deadline, Robert Jason Owens allegedly killed both of them and then burned their bodies inside of their home.
Robert Jason Owens, a handyman with a long criminal record and a neighbor of the Codd’s, is accused of killing them and their unborn child. Two bodies found in a burning cabin not far from the Codd home in Leicester, NC, could be those of the missing couple, although no positive identification has been made.
In 2012, Cristy Codd was a competitor on Season 8 of the popular Food Network show that crowns the channel’s next show-topping chef. The competition series’ website noted that she “grew up mostly in the South and often cooked Cajun cuisine with her dad. During college, she studied abroad in Germany and discovered a love for European cooking.”
