Imagination knows no bounds for 60-year-old Hollywood action veteran Tom Cruise. He is set to become the first actor to shoot a film in space! For this project that’s out of this world, he is going above and beyond what anyone has done before. Cruise is teaming up with director Doug Liman, who worked on The Bourne Identity. They have been discussing with Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) the possibility of sending the actor to the International Space Station for his next film, as the NY Post reported that UFEG Chairman Donna Langley confirmed.
“I think Tom Cruise is taking us to space. He’s taking the world to space.
That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom…Taking a rocket up to the Space Station and shooting.”
Langley said the film will take place primarily on Earth but will have some scenes set in space. “the character [going] up to space to save the day. She also said that she is quite hopeful that Cruise will become “the first civilian to do a spacewalk outside of the space station.”
It has not yet been specified what the project is about or when it will go into production. If the initiative does become a reality, Cruise would be able to set the record for being the first actor to complete a film in space.
