Atlanta Filmed ‘Greenleaf’ Breaks Ratings Record

The new Greenleaf scripted drama series starring Oprah Winfrey, debuted on Tuesday and had the 's best-ever ratings in its target demographic.

According to , “Among ages 25-54, Greenleaf drew 3.04 million and a 2.18 rating in live-plus-same day numbers.”

Those numbers are so great that makes it the number 2 cable premiere in the demographic in 2016 so far, just behind the hit FX series The People Vs. : .

Greenleaf is “described as the center of the for the thousands of predominantly African-American members who attend services there. But beneath its steeple lies a den of iniquity — greed, adultery, sibling rivalry and conflicting values.” The show was written by Craig Wright and executive produced by Winfrey and Clement Virgo.
