Aquaman is a superhero franchise distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The 2018 American superhero film was the sixth movie in the DC Extended Universe. The movie was directed by James Wan, from a screenplay by David Beall.

Warner Bros announced the movie in 2014 with Jason Momoa starring. Momoa revealed he was preparing for the Justice League movie, and he did not know whether or not a solo movie would come before or after Justice League. In December 2014, Momoa revealed he signed a four-picture deal with Warner Bros. and wanted Zack Snyder to direct. Filming took place in Australia in 2017 under the working title Ahab.
