Production:
Filming for Ozark took place in the state of Georgia due to the state’s tax breaks. The film crew constructed a set in Georgia after studying the Alhonna Resort property at Lake of Ozarks’ Alhonna Resort and Marina. Initially, Jason Bateman was going to be the only director for the first season, but due to the limited amount of time, he directed the first two and last two episodes.
To make the show as realistic as possible, the writers for the show hired an FBI agent who works on financial crimes into the writer’s room. Ozark also brought in a hedge fund manager to discuss how to move large sums of money.
