Sir Ian McKellen Says Acting is Easy

Date:

Award winning actor, Sir Ian McKellen says acting is not that hard.

McKellen has worked on some of the biggest movies in Hollywood history. In fact, in his latest production, The Dresser, McKellen works alongside Academy Award winning actor Anthony Hopkins. You would assume a man with such a long resume of acting jobs and experiences with award winning actors would argue acting is a tough and rigorous job. However, according to Ian McKellen it’s easy.

Your characters have spent most of their lives working together. How do you convey that deep history together?

[Long pause] It’s called acting, isn’t it, really? [Chuckles] You basically learn the lines and use your imagination. Not as difficult as it seems.

It’s that easy. All you have to do is memorize lines and use your imagination.
