Meta Launches Paid Verification on Instagram and Facebook

Date:

Meta is thrilled to announce the introduction of its paid verification services on Instagram and Facebook in the US, making it easier than ever before for businesses and influencers alike to get their accounts verified quickly.

Today, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, made a splash by unveiling the launch of Meta Verified across Instagram and Facebook in America. Last month, the subscription service launched in Australia and New Zealand giving users access to a coveted blue check mark on their Instagram and Facebook accounts for an affordable monthly fee. For only $11.99 per month, you can unlock the power of Meta Verified on your web browser; or for a mere $14.99 monthly fee, enjoy the same benefits on your mobile device!

“Meta Verified is rolling out in the US today,” Zuckerberg said on Friday in the Meta Channel on Instagram. “You can get a badge, proactive impersonation protection, and direct access to customer support.”

Don’t miss out! Sign up for the subscription service today and join our waitlist. To qualify, you must be 18 years of age or older and pay a monthly fee. To solidify your identity, you must finish the authentication process and provide a government-issued photo ID before being granted access to Meta Verified. Two-factor authentication is an absolute must. Those with Meta Verified accounts can only amend their profile name, image, username, or date of birth if they agree to begin the verification process again.

Meta Verified provides unique stickers for Facebook and Instagram Stories and Facebook Reels. Plus, every month, you get 100 Stars to commend other creators on their success!

Meta communicated to TechCrunch via email that the initial test in Australia and New Zealand had delivered “good results,” as well as taking into account feedback from their subscribers. To provide a better understanding, an Australian and New Zealand Meta Verified subscription includes improved visibility and reach in searches, comments, or recommendations. After receiving user feedback that this offering took time to understand, Meta is researching it more before deciding whether to expand beyond Australia and New Zealand.

Using Elon Musk’s expertise, Zuckerberg created the innovative Meta Verified platform. Last autumn, after the Tesla CEO acquired Twitter, they rolled out a new Blue subscription service containing paid verification for only $8 monthly. Unlike Twitter’s approach, users who have already been verified on Instagram and Facebook don’t need to pay for their confirmation. Despite Elon Musk’s pledge to abolish legacy verification badges, he has yet to follow through.

Earning the distinguished blue checkmark on social media has long been considered a prestigious milestone, previously limited to celebrities and other noted public figures such as politicians, actors, athletes, and journalists. Musk has challenged the idea that blue checkmarks should be exclusive and instead argued for them to become more widely accessible.

Since its inception, Meta has provided most of its services at no cost to customers. Nevertheless, it’s becoming more evident that this is altering. Worth noting is that Meta and Twitter aren’t the only two companies to offer subscription services. Last year, Snap unveiled its service last year, successfully transforming 2.5 million users into paid customers!

To get the ball rolling with Meta Verified, simply access your settings on Instagram or Facebook and select “Accounts Center” to ensure you’re all set. If you can use the subscription service, “Meta Verified Available” will be visible underneath your profile picture and name. To move on to the next step, choose your payment method for your subscription plan and confirm it.
