T-Dawg lived in Avondale projects in Birmingham, Alabama and used old radios to create recording equipment. He used one for the tape deck, one for the mic and so own. All of this took place in a little room, so that’s what birthed Little Room Records.
His company began with Little Room Records as my first venture. I lived in Avondale projects in Birmingham, Alabama and I used old radios to create recording equipment. I used one for the tape deck, one for the mic and so own. All of this took place in a little room, so that’s what birthed Little Room Records.
TPC Cartel began as a rap duo when I was 13 with my cousin Steven Peay (PEBO Da Boss). Over time it became an entity with a management company, marketing, and promotion brand, clothing line, film production company and our latest venture Cartel TV, a Roku streaming network with offices in both Birmingham and Atlanta.
In 2009, when he came home after being incarcerated for three years on a pending trial, of which he was acquitted four days before his birthday. He resided in Sumter South Carolina for a while. That’s when it got serious and when he pursued it as a full-on career. PEBO and Him dropped their first release together Titled Jacc Boyz vol. 1 and went on to sale 5 thousand copies in the streets. But didn’t know anything about ISRC, barcodes, upc, etc. so they didn’t track our sales. Not having proof of that indie success stalled us, it was a hard lesson learned.
One of the key factors during this time was when Pebo brought on then Graphic Designer Derek Storm who at the time was working with internet sensations Spicy Cajun and Lady Luck. He assisted us with raising their game on promo videos, flyers, social media, etc.
Next, they started cranking up doing shows, radio interviews, and festivals alongside artist like Freeway and Plies. After one year home from jail in South Carolina in 2010, he decided to move back home to Birmingham to pursue his solo career and build up his companies. He knew It could further his career in Birmingham and I had access to more resources and a closer reach to the bubbling Atlanta music scene. Birmingham was packed with venues, assets and people he knew could help push his agenda. In Sumter, the plan was a dream to everyone and he found himself getting sidetracked, he needed to go home to focus and that’s exactly what he did. He returned home, started hitting studios, doing shows and establishing his personal brand as T-Dawg Da Don.
In 2012, T-Dawg got into promotions hosting his own open mics etc. It was at this time he decided to circle back to TPC Cartel because of the infrastructure that was already in place. This is the point at which he launched it as a brand as opposed to a rap group. At this point, it turned into a marketing and promotion company and he began offering services to other brands, businesses, and celebrities.
In 2014, Declaration of Independence His first solo project (mixtape) was released on around two dozens mixtape websites. This was the first digital release which included major platforms like Itunes, with all of the new knowledge he'd acquired over the years he really began to see the fruit with this project. This was the catalyst that next leveled the brand. He then conjoined TPC Cartel and Little Room Records and continued pushing forward.
In 2015, He released his first worldwide single Calling Shots and shot a video for it. He went own to meet who he calls one his biggest mentors JT the Bigga Figga who ushered him into the film industry as an Director/Actor and schooled him a lot of tips to independent success. The next year he released his single Da Struggle. And continued working and released his Ep, Cartel King This was when he started signing talent to the label and the first artist he signed officially was Cartel Blacc followed by BMR Dee Man. It was around this time that he got an endorsement deal with Crunk Energy and later on became a Brand Ambassador for them.
Top of 2017 his second single Change Up came out featuring Da Bull Banks. Little Room Records went on to do a five city promo tour sponsored by Crunk Energy. Little Room Records then restructured and officially signed artist that had been with the label from the beginning but not on paper like PEBO Da Boss,Da Bull Banks,BC Capo and Dime$. T-Dawg continued on a year-long project, he directed, produced and starred in his first feature film, Heart Of the Streets (HOTS). He also created Cartel News Syndicate as a TPC Cartel central space for all of their original content to be promoted and housed. He ended the year by releasing Cartel Blacc’s first single Cartel Flow. I created the clothing brand Don Nicci Clothing.
At the top of 2018, T-Dawg released the feature film Heart Of the Streets and a single and Ep His artist Dime$ Releasd his first single both titled Too many Dime$. Then he released his third solo project Da Struggle Ep. Then turned right around and began filming his second feature film Dirt Road Trappin’. Where he returned to Sumter, South Carolina for that project. He and Artist BMR Dee Man partnered to open A recording studio. Named Cartel Creations Studios. He released BMR Dee Man’s first single And Ep and video titled No Hook. He went on to meet Kimberly Latrice Jones who became his partner in the next Venture a streaming/network Cartel TV, a Roku based streaming channel scheduled to launch in the Spring of 2021. He Then released Dawg Mode his 4th Ep and 6th solo project. He also signed Comedian Brandon Smiley (Rickey Smiley's Son) in December of 2018 and organize a tour booked for him, with a 2018 Superbowl gig with Jamie Kennedy and several film and streaming projects was on the schedule.
