Casting Call for CFC Writers Lab Short Film “In Development”
Job Details:
We are currently casting for four compelling roles in the upcoming CFC Writers Lab short film projects. The shooting will take place in Toronto, and production is scheduled between November 11th and 19th, 2023. This includes one shoot day and up to four hours of unpaid rehearsal time.
Job Responsibilities:
- TRAXIE [LEAD]:
- Character Description: Female, 60-70, Black. Mitch’s adoptive mother and mother figure to Annette. Trixie’s a former exotic dancer, current formidable force — and above all, fabulous. A mother figure to everyone she meets. She’s deeply empathetic, nurturing, and generous to a fault. She radiates warmth. She’d give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. You might not even have to ask. But underneath, there’s solitude and unspoken grief — a result of her daughter being taken away decades ago. Her past fuels her desire to help others, to offer them the support she both didn’t have and couldn’t provide her own child. But don’t get it twisted, amidst all the compassion there’s a “FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT” streak. Hurt anybody under her wing and you’ll see just how vicious a kind person can be.
Requirements:
- Experience in acting, particularly in roles with emotional depth and complexity.
- Availability for shooting between November 11th and 19th, 2023, including one shoot day and up to four hours of unpaid rehearsal time.
- Female performers aged 60-70 who identify as Black.
- Open to both Union and Non-Union performers.
Compensation:
This is a non-paying role. However, it offers a unique opportunity to be part of the prestigious CFC Writers Lab project, gain exposure, and collaborate with industry professionals. We welcome both Union and Non-Union performers to audition.
