Casting Call for Short Film: “Life as we know it”

Diamond Cuff Productions invites talented individuals to participate in our upcoming romantic comedy, “Life as we know it”. We are seeking a dynamic cast and a dedicated crew to bring this project to life. See below for available roles and job specifications.

Casting Call – Male Characters:

  1. Lucas (Accountant):

    • Age: 26
    • Qualities: Wholesome, Hopeless Romantic, Funny
    • Responsibilities: Portray an accountant with a romantic twist, deliver lines with comedic timing
    • Requirements: Previous acting experience preferred, must be able to convey nuanced emotions
  2. Max (Barista):

    • Age: 21
    • Qualities: Fashionable, Energetic, Outspoken with locs (Rasta)/long hair preferred
    • Responsibilities: Bring to life the character of an energetic barista, interact with customers on-screen
    • Requirements: Must have a vibrant and energetic demeanor, barista experience a plus
  3. Jacob (Bartender):

    • Age: 24
    • Qualities: Bearded, Assertive, Hot Tempered
    • Responsibilities: Perform as a convincing bartender, handle on-screen conflict with assertiveness
    • Requirements: Previous bartending experience desirable, must maintain character consistency

Casting Call – Female Characters:

  1. Claire (Teacher):

    • Age: 25
    • Qualities: Wholesome, Emotionally Guarded
    • Responsibilities: Depict a dedicated teacher with emotional depth, engage in character development
    • Requirements: Ability to portray complex emotional states, teaching experience beneficial
  2. Isabel (Photographer):

    • Age: 27
    • Qualities: Bohemian Style, Bubbly, Commitment Phobic
    • Responsibilities: Characterize a free-spirited photographer, display a range of emotions
    • Requirements: Genuine interest in photography, capable of expressing a fear of commitment

    • Requirements: Must own a laptop with premier pro, adept at color grading, strong portfolio

We are casting LA-based actors for a developmental reading of The Life of Death, a new pop musical. The story follows the Grim Reaper’s daughter, who faces a profound dilemma between stepping into her father’s role as the next “Death” and her secret longing to be fully alive. This comedic musical requires strong performers with powerful pop vocal abilities to help bring the story to life in this staged reading.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform in a developmental reading of a new musical, embodying dynamic characters with strong emotional depth.
  • Deliver powerful vocal performances of pop songs and contribute to the overall musical experience.
  • Collaborate with the director, music director, and creative team to help develop the characters and musical material for the production.
