Borderlands Tanks at Box Office, Blake Lively Shines in “It Ends With Us”

Date:

Key Takeaways:

– Eli Roth's Borderlands might be one of the biggest box office flops
– The film may not even cross the $10 million mark in North America
's It Ends With Us performs stunningly, bringing in close to $50 million
– The indie movie, Cuckoo, from Neon, performed modestly with roughly $3 million

Bad News Strikes Roth's Borderlands

Friends, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it seems like Eli Roth's Borderlands might be one of the most significant flops in box office . According to early reports from Deadline, the film hardly made any money in its opening night. The forecast is that it might just scrape out a digit weekend gross of a meager $8-10 million. That's bad news for a film that cost more than $100 million to make.

With pretty unimpressed and a disappointing D+ CinemaScore rating, Borderlands is not going down well with audiences either. Unless some miracle occurs overseas, this could be one of the biggest box office disasters we've ever seen!

Blake Lively's It Ends With Us Shines

On a brighter note, let's chat about the newest movie based on Colleen Hoover's novel – It Ends With Us. Led by the awesome Blake Lively, the film is doing fantastic! Did you know, it even did better than Deadpool and on ? It's true! We saw a hefty $24 million bump (including previews) against the superhero movie, which made only $15 million.

While Blake and her partner in (or should I say on the screen?) are definitely rocking the cinema world, her movie looks to end the weekend with an impressive almost $50 million. It's a tight race with Deadpool and Wolverine just edging her out with an estimated total of $55 million.

The Modest Performer, Cuckoo

And what about our indie darling, Cuckoo? Starring Euphoria's and Dan Stevens, it opened a bit quieter than Neon studio's recent hit, Longlegs. It's looking at just around $3 million this weekend. But let's not forget, a smaller figure on the block doesn't mean a poor film. Our critics can't stop raving about it!

Wrapping Up

To finish off, remember that despite what might seem like a gloomy box office summer, this weekend was up a full 44% from the same time last year, courtesy of Deadline. So, let's celebrate that and remember there's always something to enjoy at the movies.

Out of curiosity, what did you watch this weekend? Feel free to share in the comments! Happy viewing, everyone.
