Brad Pitt to Star in Apple Studio’s Upcoming Formula One Action Film Filmed at the British Grand Prix
Brad Pitt will be heading to the Silverstone Circuit this summer to film at the British Grand Prix for Apple Studio’s latest film project, an action-packed Formula One film. In the movie, Pitt plays a retired Formula One driver who comes out of retirement to team up with a rookie driver and take on the champions of the sport, co-starring with Damson Idris.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, who also led Top Gun: Maverick, the film is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. It sees seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton as one of its producers. During a panel discussion about the movie at the F1 Accelerate Summit in Miami, Kosinski and Bruckheimer shared production details, revealing that they are creating an 11th team to film on track and location from Silverstone to the end of the year.
The British Grand Prix is set to take place at the Silverstone Circuit near the village of Silverstone in Northamptonshire in England, where filming will take place. According to British Formula One presenter Will Buxton, the film’s team has created “the most miniature moveable 6k camera ever designed to handle the viewer into the cockpit, allowing its stars to drive the race cars. Brad Pitt was driving an F1 car from Silverstone onwards.
Mercedes has designed the race car in the film, and Hamilton advises on the storyline and script to ensure the most accurate racing film ever made. Top Gun is writing the screenplay: Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger, and alongside Hamilton, Kosinski, and Bruckheimer, Chad Oman also produces for Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment, with Copper CEO Penni Thow as executive producer.
