House of the Dragon Season 2 Continues Filming in UK Despite US Writer’s Strike
Despite the US Writer’s Strike, the production of House of the Dragon Season 2 will carry on in the UK. According to Variety, the scripts have already been completed, and the filming will not be impacted. The Writers Guild of America voted for a strike on May 2, meaning all scriptwriting has stopped. However, House of the Dragon’s completed scripts will allow filming to continue, so there will be no significant disruption in the production of the hit fantasy series.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is a Game of Thrones prequel that has been filming its second season at Warner Bros.’ Leavesden Studios since April 11. The season 2 cast includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans, with returning cast members Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham. Newly-cast actors Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim have joined the series. Showrunner Ryan Condal expressed his excitement for the upcoming season: “All your favorite characters will soon be conspiring at the council tables, marching with their armies, and riding their dragons into battle. We can’t wait to share what we have in store.”
