Key Takeaways:

– Jennifer Love Hewitt reveals Enrique Iglesias was mourning his close friend, Aaliyah, while shooting the music video for ‘Hero’.
– The video shoot coincided with the day Aaliyah passed away in a tragic airplane accident.
– Enrique Iglesias has a performance slated for later this year in Dubai as part of his Trilogy Tour.

Enrique Iglesias, the popular Spanish singer, was in mourning while shooting the music video for his hit song ‘Hero’. This revelation was made by actress Jennifer Love Hewitt, who worked with the singer on the video project.

The Unfortunate Coincidence of Aaliyah’s Tragic Death

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Hewitt opened up about her stint in Hollywood. She touched upon her participation in the music video ‘Hero’, where she played Enrique Iglesias’ romantic interest. The video also stars actor Mickey Rourke, most recognized for his role in the Iron Man film series.

In the course of the conversation, Hewitt disclosed a heart-wrenching detail. She revealed that while filming the video, Iglesias was grieving the death of his dear friend and legendary R&B artist, Aaliyah. Aaliyah’s fatal plane crash in the Bahamas happened on the same day the video was shot.

According to Hewitt, Iglesias’ raw emotions seen in the video were not acting; they were genuine expressions of loss. She further shared that upon completion of the video, they said a prayer in memory of Aaliyah and dedicated the song to the late singer.

The Impact of Losing Aaliyah on the Industry

The news of singer Aaliyah’s demise in 2001 came as shock to the entertainment industry. Her career was rapidly gaining momentum then, with her last album, ‘Aaliyah’, topping the Billboard 200. She is still regarded as the 27th most successful R&B female artist in history.

A Glimpse at Enrique Iglesias’ Current Endeavors

In a more contemporary update, Enrique Iglesias is ready to take the stage in Dubai for his upcoming concert expected to happen in September. This show, a collaboration between Blu Blood and Dubai Calendar, will be hosted at the Coca-Cola Arena. The news of the concert was made public through an Instagram post from the venue.

Enrique Iglesias is currently in the middle of his North American tour. He teamed up with Ricky Martin and Pitbull for The Trilogy Tour that commenced in October 2023. Owing to its immense popularity, the tour was extended to perform 18 more shows in 2024. It covered major cities including Toronto, Miami, New York, and Los Angeles.

Despite the excitement around the Dubai show, the presale of tickets ended last Friday. As fans eagerly await the concert, they now have a deeper understanding and appreciation for the emotion behind the singer’s most successful title ‘Hero’, thanks to Jennifer Love Hewitt’s recent revelation.
