A massive crowd of locals flocked to an open casting call for Netflix’s Happy Gilmore 2, set to be filmed across various locations in New Jersey.
The casting, organized by Grant Wifley Casting, is on the hunt for extras to appear in the highly anticipated sequel, with scenes scheduled to be shot in Bergen, Essex, Monmouth, Morris, and Somerset counties. The open call, held on Tuesday at the Morristown Hyatt Regency, saw an “amazing” turnout, according to the casting company.
Filming for the movie will take place in September and November. Those who missed the in-person casting can still apply online to be an extra. The production is also searching for two specific photo doubles: one for a dark-haired man between 5’9” and 5’11”, and another for someone between 7’0” and 7’8”.
At the audition, eager New Jersey locals posed for photos against a wall to determine if they were a match for the roles.
“I love Adam Sandler and all his movies, and I like trying new things,” one young hopeful shared with PIX11 News.
It’s been nearly 30 years since the original Happy Gilmore movie, starring Adam Sandler, premiered. Sandler is set to reprise his iconic role in the sequel, alongside co-stars like Allen Covert.
