‘Freaky Friday 2’ Set for Theaters in 2025; Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis Reunite in Behind-the-Scenes Look as Filming Kicks Off
Disney has officially started filming “Freaky Friday 2,” bringing back Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis to reprise their beloved roles as Anna and Tess Coleman. The studio has provided a first behind-the-scenes glimpse, confirming the movie’s release in theaters in 2025, dispelling rumors of an exclusive Disney+ release.
The original “Freaky Friday,” released in 2003, was a hit, grossing $160 million globally. In this sequel, familiar faces like Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Lucille Soong, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Rosalind Chao return. New additions to the cast include Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons.
Although plot details remain under wraps, the sequel has been highly anticipated, especially after Lohan and Curtis hinted at it throughout 2023. Disney officially announced the project in March. The film is directed by Nisha Ganatra, known for her work on Hulu’s “Welcome to Chippendales” and feature films “The High Note” and “Late Night.”
Jamie Lee Curtis sparked interest in a sequel back in October 2022 when she revealed on “The View” that she had personally contacted Disney about the idea. Andrew Gunn, the producer of the original film, returns for this follow-up, joined by former Disney executive Kristin Burr.
Stay tuned for more updates as “Freaky Friday 2” progresses towards its highly anticipated release.
