Lupita Nyong’o and Annette Bening Lead the Honorees
The highly anticipated SCAD Savannah Film Festival is back with a bang! Slated to run from Oct. 26 to Nov. 2, the event is a flurry of brilliant movies, glittering accolades, and industry heavyweights gracing the occasion. This year, Hollywood power players Lupita Nyong’o and Annette Bening are among the esteemed honorees.
A Gala Night to Welcome
The grand festival starts with a bang. The opening gala features the movie Blitz, directed by the accomplished Steve McQueen, who’s also set to receive an Outstanding Achievement in Directing Award.
Each day in the festival is packed with exciting activities. Besides the awards presentations, guests can look forward to moderated conversations and masterclasses involving SCAD’s film and acting students. The program includes a host of screenings like Anora, Alien: Romulus, A Different Man, Emilia Pérez, Hit Man, Sing Sing, Unstoppable, The Wild Robot, and Young Woman and the Sea’.
Unveiling the Honorees
Now, let’s talk about the honorees. Annette Bening is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award following the screening of her 1990 work, The Grifters. Lupita Nyong’o takes home the coveted Virtuoso Award after an exhibition of The Wild Robot. Celebrated film and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer will receive the Legend of Entertainment Award. As well, Daisy Ridley and Jharrel Jerome will both receive the Lumiere Award.
Full of Achievements and Recognitions
The line of honorees also includes Colman Domingo bagging the Spotlight Award, Karla Sofía Gascón receiving the Distinguished Performance Award, Richard Linklater getting the Lifetime Achievement in Screenwriting Award, Mikey Madison winning the Breakthrough Award, and Isabela Merced earning the Rising Star Award. Lastly, Sebastian Stan will take the stage accepting the Maverick Award.

Let me add a bit about Bening and Nyong’o, two actresses leaving strong influences in Hollywood. Known for her impressive filmography, Bening earned acclaim for Apples Never Fall and Nyad in recent years. Meanwhile, her upcoming project, The Bride!, is already creating a buzz.
Lupita Nyong’o, on the other hand, is an Oscar-winning actress, producer, and author. Fans adore her for her roles in 12 Years a Slave, Black Panther, and Us. With each new project, she indeed brings an unmatchable charisma on screen.
Moving to Jerry Bruckheimer, the man behind blockbuster franchises like Pirates of the Caribbean, Top Gun, and many more. He is one of the film industry’s most influential figures with numerous legendary projects to his name.

In addition to the honorees, other stars to be acknowledged include Colleen Atwood who will receive the Creative Impact Award for Costume Design for her work in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. There are more announcements on the festival’s lineup and additional honorees yet to come.
