Celebrating Emerging Talent at the Tú Cuentas! Cine Youth Film Festival 2024

Date:

The Tú Cuentas! Cine Youth Film Festival, now in its fourth year, continues to champion the voices of young Latino(a) filmmakers, offering them a unique platform to showcase their creativity and storytelling prowess. This online festival, hosted by HITN TV, is more than just a celebration of cinematic talent—it’s a vibrant cultural event that brings fresh perspectives into the spotlight.

Tú Cuentas! Cine Youth Film Festival Overview

From October 9th to 16th, 2024, the festival will transform the digital landscape into a dynamic venue where young filmmakers aged 16 to 26 can display their films. As the event unfolds online, participants and viewers can enjoy the convenience of accessing the festival from anywhere in the world. The anticipation culminates on October 16th when the winners of the festival will be announced, with top prizes designed to reward and encourage the filmmakers’ future projects. The top three winners will receive awards of $4,000, $2,000, and $1,000, respectively.

Tú Cuentas! Cine Youth Film Festival: Engaging Events and Initiatives

The festival is not just about screening films. It includes engaging segments like the Film Chat web series, where hosts and guest professionals from the film and TV industry discuss various facets of filmmaking. These 30-minute sessions provide invaluable insights into storytelling techniques, personal experiences, and industry trends.

Additionally, the Cafecitos live sessions on Instagram offer a more intimate setting where the host and a guest delve into meaningful discussions over coffee. These 25-minute chats are perfect for viewers looking for inspiration and advice directly from industry insiders.

Educational Outreach

In alignment with its mission to nurture talent, the festival also introduces Cortitos, a national film shorts contest for middle school students. Taking place during Puerto Rican Heritage month, Cortitos encourages younger students to explore their creativity and develop their narrative skills, planting the seeds for the next generation of filmmakers.

Tú Cuentas! Cine Youth Film Festival: Accessibility and Participation

For those who make it to the top 10, their films will be featured on the HITN Go app, providing them with further exposure and the opportunity to reach a wider audience. This platform not only highlights their work but also integrates it into a broader network of content available to HITN viewers.
