About Rifco Theatre Company: Rifco Theatre Company is one of the UK’s premier touring theatre companies, known for producing vibrant, accessible, and ambitious new plays and musicals that celebrate British South Asian experiences. Following the success of “Britain’s Got Bhangra,” Rifco is now launching the world premiere of “Frankie Goes to Bollywood,” a new British musical inspired by the dazzling world of Bollywood and real stories of British women in the film industry.

Job Details: We are seeking highly skilled female presenting ensemble members to join the upcoming UK tour of “Frankie Goes to Bollywood.” This role requires performers with strong dance ability and the capability to embody and express the rich and dynamic characters of Bollywood.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform in various ensemble roles throughout the tour
  • Participate in all scheduled rehearsals and performances
  • Work closely with the director, choreographer, and fellow cast members to develop performances
  • Maintain the integrity and energy of the performance throughout the tour period

Requirements:

  • Strong dance skills with a background in Asian/Indian dance styles preferred
  • Experience in ensemble work in theatre productions
  • Ability to express emotion and character through movement and dance
  • Professional demeanor and a collaborative spirit
  • Willingness to tour and maintain performance quality throughout the tour duration

Compensation:

  • £526.34 per week
  • MRSL + 5% plus touring allowance

Casting Call: Gustave – Boy Soprano

Job Detail: We are seeking a talented young actor to portray Gustave, a character with a mysterious and mischievous quality, aged approximately 10 years old. Gustave possesses a stunning pure vocal quality and must be able to perform as a Boy Soprano. Practical considerations require that the chosen actor resides within approximately one hour’s travel of Central London for rehearsals, pick-ups, and drop-offs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Portray the character of Gustave with authenticity, bringing his mysterious and mischievous nature to life on stage.
  • Deliver captivating performances in line with the character’s persona and storyline.
  • Showcase exceptional Boy Soprano vocal abilities during musical segments.

Requirements:

  • Age: Approximately 10 years old.
  • Height: Under 4ft 10ins.
  • Vocal Ability: Must possess a genuine chorister sound as a Boy Soprano.
  • Residence: Candidates must live within approximately one hour’s travel of Central London for practical rehearsal and logistics purposes.
  • Availability: Must be available for auditions in London on Wednesday, 1st November (afternoon). Recalls to be confirmed.
  • Commitment: Actors selected will be part of a rotation in China for two months of performances, returning to the UK afterward. New performers will join the tour every two months.

Performance Schedule (for this cycle only):

  • Rehearse in London: Week commencing 18th December 2023
  • Fly to China: 27th December 2023
  • First Performances: Week commencing 8th January 2024
  • 3-week return to London: Starting 5th February 2024
  • Fly to Beijing: 24th February 2024
  • Return to London: 25th March 2024 (with possibility of extension to mid April)

Compensation Details:

  • Compensation will be provided in accordance with industry standards and will include arrangements for travel, accommodation, and per diem during the China performances.

Job Details:

  • Dates:
    • Rehearsals start – Monday 30 October 2023
    • Tech starts – Saturday 11 November 2023
    • First performance – Saturday 18 November 2023
    • Last performance – Saturday 30 December 2023
  • Auditions: Wednesday 27th September 2023 (In-person auditions only, no self-tapes accepted)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform in the stage production of Raymond Briggs’ enchanting book, “The Snowman”.
  • Execute choreography with excellent ballet or contemporary technique.
  • Demonstrate good acting skills along with warmth and charm on stage.
  • Exhibit dynamic and energetic dancing throughout the performance.
  • For male presenting dancers playing the role of “The Snowman”: Must be 6ft or taller, possess genuine warmth and charm, and be comfortable with aerial work.

Requirements:

  • Male Presenting Dancers (The Snowman):
    • Height: 6ft or over
    • Warmth, charm, and comfort with aerial work
  • Male Presenting Dancers and Swings (Other Roles):
    • Height: 5ft 8in – 5ft 11in
    • Excellent dynamic contemporary dancers with good energy and charm
  • Female Presenting Dancers and Swings:
    • Excellent energy and technique
    • Some roles may require pointe work (please indicate proficiency on CV or covering letter)

Compensation:

  • Salary will be commensurate with industry standards and experience.
