The team behind Smoking Tigers, the winner of the 2022 Tribeca AT&T Untold Stories Grant, is currently doing a national search for a number of roles. This feature film centers around the KOREAN AMERICAN community and is set to shoot in LA this fall. Writer/Director So Young Shelly Yo and Producer Guo Guo will premiere Smoking Tigers at the 2023 Tribeca Festival and are granted a dedicated first look opportunity with HBO Max.
Logline: Over one summer spent at an elite academic bootcamp, a lonely Korean American teenager hides her true identity to fit in, only to discover the bittersweet pains of adulthood.
Casting is open to non-actors and actors alike. ANYONE LOCATED OUTSIDE LA will have all travel and accommodations covered for one of the lead roles, while the supporting roles are open to LA locals only.
Select roles below:
Hayoung (Female, 16-20 but should read 16, preference for 18+): Korean American. Sensitive and observant yet sharp and edgy.

Appa (Male, 40s): Korean. Must speak fluent Korean, ideally a native speaker. Charismatic.
Many more supporting roles are available, so those ages 9+ who are Korean American or Korean are encouraged to apply.
