Job Description:

We are casting LA-based actors for a developmental reading of The Life of Death, a new pop musical. The story follows the Grim Reaper’s daughter, who faces a profound dilemma between stepping into her father’s role as the next “Death” and her secret longing to be fully alive. This comedic musical requires strong performers with powerful pop vocal abilities to help bring the story to life in this staged reading.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform in a developmental reading of a new musical, embodying dynamic characters with strong emotional depth.
  • Deliver powerful vocal performances of pop songs and contribute to the overall musical experience.
  • Collaborate with the director, music director, and creative team to help develop the characters and musical material for the production.
  • Participate in rehearsals and the reading process, providing input and feedback on the character’s development.

Requirements:

  • Open to LA-based actors of all genders and ethnicities.
  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Strong pop vocal abilities are required.
  • Must be comfortable with comedic and musical theatre performance styles.
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.

Compensation:

  • Actors will be compensated under the AEA 29-Hour Reading guidelines.

Casting Call for Eddie Kendricks in “Ain’t Too Proud” Non-Union Tour

Job Description: Work Light Productions is seeking a talented performer to play the role of Eddie Kendricks in the upcoming non-union national tour of “Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations.” This role requires a strong singer with a high falsetto and excellent dancing skills. The character, Eddie Kendricks, is charismatic, vocal, and an integral part of the story as he contributes significantly to the group’s vocal arrangements and overall dynamics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Portray the character Eddie Kendricks, reflecting his personality, vocal style, and dance movements.
  • Perform complex vocal arrangements and dance routines as part of the ensemble and in solo performances.
  • Participate in all rehearsals and performances as scheduled by the tour management.
  • Maintain the integrity of the character and show through consistent performances and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with the cast and crew to ensure a cohesive and high-quality production.

Requirements:

  • Gender: Male-presenting
  • Age: 20s-30s
  • Race: Black (as the character Eddie Kendricks)
  • Strong falsetto singing abilities and strong dancing skills are essential.
  • Previous stage experience in musical theater is preferred.
  • Must be available for rehearsal starting on/about August 19, 2024, with an opening date on/about September 24, 2024.
  • Ability to travel and perform nationally as per the tour schedule.

Compensation:

  • Principal Role: $900/week minimum, plus applicable extras.
  • Ensemble: $700/week minimum, plus applicable extras.
  • Benefits include MEC Health Coverage, and transportation, housing, and per diem are provided with the first move to tech.

Casting Call: Cast Members for HADESTOWN Tour (Non-Union)

Job Details: Spring Will Come Again, LLC is seeking talented actors for the non-union tour of HADESTOWN, the mythic musical. Directed by Keenan Tyler Oliphant with original direction and new tour concept by Rachel Chavkin, and choreography by David Neumann, this tour promises to be an engaging and inventive reimagining of the acclaimed show. Musical supervision is by Liam Robinson with book, music, and lyrics by Anaïs Mitchell. Casting is managed by Benton Whitley, CSA and Micah Johnson-Lew of Whitley Theatrical.

This production is seeking virtual submissions for various roles with rehearsals starting September 3, 2024, in New York City, and the first performance scheduled for October 3, 2024, in Waterbury CT.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Attend all rehearsals and performances as scheduled.
