Project Description: “Don’t Go Swimming” is a narrative short film set in the secluded backwoods of Florida. This gripping story revolves around a group of queer friends who reunite for a day of swimming. As they navigate the dark waters of a remote lake, their past tensions and unresolved issues resurface, exposing them to a terrifying, unseen horror lurking beneath.
We are seeking talented actors to bring to life the complex and dynamic characters in this story. This is a fantastic opportunity for those looking to gain experience and exposure in the film industry, particularly in LGBTQ+ themed narratives.
Roles:
- Billie: A tomboy lesbian in her early to mid-30s. She’s confident, strong-willed, and has a protective nature. Billie is the glue that holds the group together but finds her leadership tested as hidden fears and past conflicts emerge.
- Christopher: A gay man in his early to mid-30s. Christopher is witty, charming, and somewhat sarcastic. He masks his vulnerabilities with humor but faces his own internal struggles as the story unfolds.
- Brendan: A younger gay man in his early to mid-20s. Brendan is the fresh-faced, somewhat naive member of the group. He brings a sense of innocence and optimism but is confronted with the harsher realities of the group’s dynamics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the director and fellow cast members.
- Memorize and deliver lines with authentic emotion and clarity.
- Attend all scheduled rehearsals and filming dates, especially on February 16th and 17th.
- Contribute to character development and script interpretation.
Requirements:
- Must be able to portray a character in the specified age range and demographic.
- Prior acting experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work well in a team and adapt to dynamic filming environments.
- Must be comfortable with LGBTQ+ themes and content.
- Availability on specified production dates.
