Casting Call: Background Violinist for “Preparation for the Next Life”

Job Description:

“Preparation for the Next Life,” an upcoming film production, is currently seeking SAG-AFTRA and NON-UNION background actors who can authentically portray individuals of East Asian descent, for a scene requiring a violinist. This unique opportunity requires the talent to bring their own violin to the set and be able to perform with it, although it’s important to note that the violin will be muted during filming, so no actual sound will be recorded or heard.

Job Responsibilities:

• Portray a violinist in a specific scene, contributing to the authenticity and atmosphere of the production.
• Bring personal violin to the set and perform as directed by the production team.
• Follow directions from the director and production staff to ensure scenes are executed as envisioned.
• Be prepared for a day of filming, including waiting times and multiple takes of scenes, if necessary.
• Interact professionally with cast, crew, and other background actors on set.

Requirements:

• Must be able to authentically portray an East Asian individual.
• Must have your own violin and be able to bring it to the set.
• Ability to play the violin is required (please note, the violin will be muted on set).
• Must be available for filming on Monday, March 25th, in Flushing, Queens.
• SAG-AFTRA and NON-UNION actors are welcome to apply.
• Must adhere to set etiquette and follow production guidelines.
• Previous experience in film/TV not required but considered a plus.

Compensation Details:

• This is a paid opportunity. Compensation details will be provided upon selection.
• Union rates apply for SAG-AFTRA members. Non-union members will receive standard background rates.
• Payment terms and conditions will be communicated upon casting confirmation.
