Sara Koch Casting is excited to announce the casting call for the independent narrative short film “The Running Kind,” to be filmed in Stockton, CA. This project operates under the SAG-AFTRA Micro Budget Agreement. We are looking for a talented actor to fill the supporting role of Rick, a complex character grappling with significant life changes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Portray the character of Rick, a man aged 35 to 50, of any ethnicity.
- Convey Rick’s journey from a carefree, rebellious youth to a mature business owner facing terminal illness.
- Collaborate with the director and other actors to bring depth and authenticity to Rick’s relationships and emotional experiences.
- Participate in rehearsals and on-location shoots in Stockton, CA.
- Submit online demo clips along with the application for consideration.
Character Description: Rick is a man who resisted maturity for as long as possible, enjoying a reckless youth with his friends. Now, he runs a small business and has a family. Recently diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, Rick has accepted his fate and seeks to impart wisdom to his friends. He faces the challenge of advising his friend Cary, who plans to fake his own death to start anew. Rick is a nuanced character who balances the acceptance of his mortality with the joy of seeing his friends live freely.
Requirements:
- Male actor, aged 35 to 50, of any ethnicity.
- Previous acting experience, preferably with demo clips showcasing your work.
- Ability to portray a wide range of emotions and complex character development.
- Voiceover experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Willingness to travel to Stockton, CA for filming (travel and housing expenses covered by production).
Compensation Details:
- Rate of Pay: $285/day
- This project falls under the SAG-AFTRA Micro Budget Agreement, meaning most terms, including rate of pay, are subject to negotiation between the producer and performer.
- Please note, this agreement does not provide standard protections, compensation, and benefits typical of other SAG-AFTRA contracts, nor does it contribute toward SAG-AFTRA membership eligibility.
