Disney+, Hulu, and Max Unveil New Streaming Bundle: Competitive Pricing and Launch Details

Date:

Today marks the debut of the much-anticipated , , and Max streaming bundle. This strategic partnership combines the offerings of Disney's Disney+ and Hulu with Warner Bros. 's Max, providing consumers with both ad-supported and ad-free viewing options.

The collaborative effort has set the ad-supported bundle at a monthly fee of $16.99, while the ad-free version is priced at $29.99. Comparatively, purchasing each of these services individually would cost approximately $26 per month for the ad-supported tiers and about $37 for the ad-free tiers. This strategy offers a competitive edge, particularly for the comprehensive Disney Bundle which includes both Disney+ and Hulu combined with Max.

This launch represents a significant shift in the streaming , historically dominated by telecom and company-led bundles. Unlike Netflix, which prefers to remain a standalone destination and collaborates with third-party distributors rather than directly bundling with other streaming services, Disney and Warner Bros. Discovery are directly aligning their extensive content libraries. This strategy aims to attract a broader audience by catering to diverse viewing preferences within households, thereby increasing viewership and reducing subscriber turnover.

Warner Bros. Discovery's CEO, David Zaslav, highlighted the benefits of the bundle, noting that it naturally lowers churn rates as it engages more family members with varied content offerings. The launch was accompanied by an engaging marketing campaign called “The Ultimate Bundle Is Here,” which featured popular scenes from blockbuster shows and across the three services, including “House of the Dragon,” “Only Murders in the Building,” and “Percy & The Olympians.”

The campaign concluded with a notable crossover clip where Thor from Marvel exclaims, “this is the greatest team ever,” alongside Short from “Only Murders” celebrating their with, “the three of us united, at last.” This creative marketing underscores the unique amalgamation of content and value provided by this new bundle.
