Casting Call: Film “Songbird”

Storyline: Set in the vibrant era of the 1930s Harlem Renaissance, “Songbird” tells the tale of Avocet, a talented jazz singer grappling with a tumultuous love life. As she records a groundbreaking and radical album, her rising fame unexpectedly draws the attention of the FBI.

Roles Available:

  1. Carver: Male, late 20s to early 30s, Black or Caucasian. This role requires an actor who can portray a range of emotions from cautious and friendly to charmingly awkward. Carver is Avocet’s manager, a character known for his analytical mind and extensive knowledge of the music industry. Above all, he is fiercely loyal to Avocet and dedicated to nurturing her brand. This is a supporting role.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Portray the character of Carver with depth and authenticity, contributing to the overall narrative of the film.
  • Work closely with the director and other cast members to bring the script to life.
  • Participate in rehearsals and adhere to the shooting schedule.
  • Maintain professionalism on set and collaborate effectively with the crew and other actors.
  • Contribute to promotional activities related to the film as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous acting experience in film, television, or theater.
  • Ability to convey a range of emotions and characteristics as demanded by the role.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to work under the direction of a film director.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in shooting schedules.
  • Must be available for the entire duration of the shoot (February 6-11, 2024).
  • Must be able to work in Tallahassee, FL.

Compensation Details:

  • Rate of Pay: $125 per day.
  • Additional 10% compensation as part of the contract.
