About the Residency: Gasworks invites emerging Bolivian artists, either based in Bolivia or living outside of Bolivia, to apply for a fully funded 11-week residency in London. This program is ideal for artists in the early stages of their career seeking an opportunity for self-led professional development, artistic exchange, and experimentation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Engage in self-directed research and production of new work.
- Participate in a public Open Studio event in the tenth week at Gasworks.
- Deliver a public talk (or similar) in Bolivia (or online) about the residency experience.
- Create a written report summarizing the residency experience.
Job Details:
- 24-hour access to a private studio at Gasworks.
- Participation in public events and studio visits with curators and arts professionals.
- Interaction with London’s artistic and cultural community.
Requirements:
- Must be a contemporary visual artist in the early stages of their career.
- Must currently live and work in Bolivia, or be a Bolivian artist living abroad.
- Moderate level of spoken English for engaging in artistic discussions.
- Submit a project proposal specific to the residency and London context.
- Ineligible if currently residing outside of Bolivia.
- Preference given to artists who haven’t worked in London before.
Compensation:
- All visa costs and support during the application process.
- Economy return flights, including luggage allowances.
- Single room accommodation in Gasworks’ Residency House.
- Weekly stipend of £150 for living expenses.
- A materials budget of £800.
- Access to Gasworks’ tools and AV equipment.
- Prepaid travel card for central London.
- Administrative, pastoral, and curatorial support from Gasworks.
