- Description: Alba is the matriarch of the family, a widow, and a single mother. She possesses a strong will and is known for her stubbornness. Alba faced the daunting task of rebuilding her life after the passing of her husband, Rafael, following a prolonged battle with cancer when her daughters were 16 and 9 years old. Struggling through a period of severe depression, Alba ultimately found strength with the support of her eldest daughter, Carmen, and took up a job as a cleaning woman to provide for her family. Recently, she has been diagnosed with advanced stomach cancer, but she chooses to keep this information a secret, fearing her family’s reaction. In spite of this, she decides to embark on a last-minute trip to Colombia for her niece’s wedding. Alba speaks with a Colombian accent.
