London studio based role

HIFEN Studios

The Maverick Group creates employee engagement programs and internal engagement campaigns for well-known international clients, with a strong emphasis on video content.

As our clients’ demands are growing, we are looking for an Agency Producer or Senior Agency Producer to join our busy team. Each project typically includes several films, often of different treatments and you will be responsible for the smooth development and delivery of the content, from taking the brief right the way through to final delivery into translation.

You will need to quickly develop strong, productive relationships with not just senior client leads and stakeholders but with the other partner agencies who work together on these large-scale programs too – as well as your Maverick colleagues in design, copywriting, film production and post. Collaboration is key.

This is very much a client-facing role, so we are looking for a producer’s experience and knowledge, combined with the rapport-building openness and understanding that builds trust with clients who may not always have film or marketing backgrounds but expect a high quality end product.

Key responsibilities

  • Creative Management – Initialising ideas, briefing writers, writing treatments, presenting, edit directing
  • Project Management – multiple-assets, multi-stage video productions, delivering to time
  • Client and Partner Management – collaborating, communicating, problem solving
  • Budget management – developing and overseeing master budgets, liaising with other colleagues

About you

The successful applicant will have very strong corporate video production experience and be able to demonstrate writing initial treatments, as well as a strong understanding of primary production and postproduction processes. You will be liaising with our in-house primary production team for shooting needs, as well as directing edits and briefing motion graphics requirements, liaising with our in-house postproduction. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate previous experience with motion graphics and animation-based processes.

Much of the content we create is learning and engagement based – experience with this type of content and with current delivery mechanisms like learning experience platforms and internal engagement apps would be an advantage, as would creating shorter form ‘social’ content / UGC for internal audiences.

Also desirable and of interest – if you have experience in interactive projects, particularly how film is incorporated in them; design/branding experience; interviewing/directing ‘talking heads’ pieces.

The international, multi-partner nature of the programs we contribute to mean that our projects can often take many months to complete the rigours of their project plans. The right candidate will have a proven track record in working with multiple projects over time and not be phased by working with clients across the globe.

Equally, while tenacious about delivering a creative, quality product on time and to budget, you have a flexible, pragmatic, problem-solving mindset. Working with corporate clients can be challenging, sometimes ambiguous and you should be comfortable with adapting a plan, calmly flexing your approach and anticipating new solutions.

We are looking for a self-starter with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, who will take ownership of projects and contribute to a strong team spirit. (Admit it, you knew we’d say that didn’t you?)

About The Maverick Group

Who is The Maverick Group you may ask? Well, we’re the industry’s best kept secret.

A leading, independent creative agency who believes Maverick thinking leads to great things.

We also believe in our people. They’re our superpower. Supercharged by a collaborative, supportive environment, where ‘that’ll do’ will never do and team spirit is the boss. No big egos, just one big family.

Maverick is agile and brave, humble and honest. Are we a network? No way Jose. To us networks don’t work. They move slow and their people can go stale. We’re a group of specialist units, all armed with experts in their field. Designers, creative thinkers, brand builders, strategic planners, problem solvers, film producers, project managers, digital creators and event & sponsorship generators. Talented go-getters, who get pumped about creating and delivering game-changing ideas for a wide range of clients. And having some fun along the way too!

We’re proud to do things differently. We follow our gut not the industry herd. That’s why we’ve fully embraced the new ways of working culture. Our London office is open, but we’re also open to remote working. If it works better that way, then that’s the way it works. After all, great ideas don’t just happen at your office desk. We trust you. We get you.

Maybe that’s why so many of our staff have been with us for so many years? People stay and we’re now looking for others to join them. We’re growing, so if you think Maverick, we think The Maverick Group could be for you.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Think this is another dull, corporate paragraph about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)? Think again. Or even better, Think Maverick – because for us, DEI is not a box-ticking exercise or another dusty HR policy. Here, it’s something that lives and breathes in the way we work every day. It’s giving everyone the same consideration when they apply, and the same warm welcome when they join. It’s building the same sense of belonging for all and offering equitable opportunities to excel and achieve. And it’s adapting to your accessibility requirements at the interview and beyond. If this last point is relevant to you, just let us know.

The Maverick Group is a place where you can be you, and you are free to succeed.

Here’s a closer look at the various aspects of an entertainment career, what it involves, and the opportunities it presents.

Key Sectors in Entertainment

1. Film and Television: This sector includes jobs ranging from acting, directing, and screenwriting to more technical roles like cinematography, sound engineering, and editing. Professionals in this field work on movies, TV shows, commercials, and documentaries.

2. Music: Careers in music are diverse and can range from performing as a singer or instrumentalist to roles behind the scenes such as music production, songwriting, and managing artists.

3. Theater: Theater professionals may work as actors, directors, set designers, or playwrights. This field emphasizes live performances and often requires a strong background in performing arts.

4. Digital Media: With the rise of internet content consumption, digital media careers have become highly popular. This includes digital content creation, animation, video game design, and roles in emerging platforms like streaming services.

5. Event Management and Promotion: This involves organizing concerts, premieres, sports events, and other entertainment functions. Careers here include event planners, promoters, and logistical support roles.

Educational Paths

Most roles in entertainment require a combination of formal education and hands-on experience. Degrees in film, theater, music, digital arts, or media studies are common among professionals in this field. However, many skills in the entertainment industry are honed through apprenticeships, internships, and on-the-job training.

Skills Required

A successful career in entertainment often demands creativity, perseverance, and a strong work ethic. Technical skills specific to an industry segment—like editing software proficiency for filmmakers or digital audio workstations knowledge for music producers—are also crucial. Soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and networking, are essential, given the collaborative nature of the industry.

Career Opportunities and Challenges

Entertainment careers can be incredibly rewarding, offering the chance to work on creative projects and sometimes gaining public recognition. However, these careers can also be highly competitive and unpredictable. Job stability can be an issue, as work is often project-based and may involve periods of unemployment between gigs. Moreover, the rise of digital technologies continues to reshape career paths in entertainment, creating new opportunities but also challenges for traditional roles.
