CASTING CALL FOR A SHORT FILM

We are casting a project for Sayhota Entertainment / 100p Films scheduled to shoot in the Okanagan in June. Union & non union talent are welcome to apply. Info is as follows…

Add’l: Meals, craft services & HMW services provided. No travel, no accommodations, no per diem. All cast & crew must self-drive to and from set.

LOGLINE: A man, Steve, tries to outsmart the legal system, only to have it backfire in his face.

JASON (Principal) – Male, 30s-40s. Steve’s best friend who accidentally gives him a big idea. He’s tall, muscular and focused on fitness. Jason works as an e-scooter food app delivery driver to make ends meet as his degree in linguistics went nowhere. Must be able to safely ride an e-scooter at low and medium speeds.

JUDGE (Principal) – Female, 50s-60s. BIPOC. A powerful, fair and no-nonsense Judge who is forced to put up with Steve’s legal, yet absurd dealings. Regardless of her feelings, she puts the law first, especially when she can use it to get even.

COP (Principal) – Male, 20s-40s. Typical cop on a bit of a power trip. He repeatedly catches Steve committing minor crimes and gives him citations. Must be able to run.

MALE CARRIER (Actor) – All genders, 30s-50s. Bored and somewhat lazy worker who delivers mail to Steve’s place and expects to do no more work that what’s absolutely necessary. Think Newman from Seinfeld without the scheming.

ICE CREAM CLERK (Actor, Non-Speaking) Female, 18-25 yrs. or 55+. A friendly but by-the-book employee of an ice cream shop. She stops Steve’s plot of getting a free ice cream cone. Note: this character may be required to eat ice cream so please add note of any applicable allergies

LITTLE GIRL (Actor, Non-Speaking) – Female, 7-10 yrs. She is a friendly and helpful little girl who is convinced by Steve to enter the ice cream shop to get a free cone. Note: this character may be required to eat ice cream so please add note of any applicable allergies

BAILIFF (Actor, Non-Speaking) – Male, 30s-60s. A bored Bailiff who is surprised when he is called upon to take Steve into custody.

JOGGER (Actor, Non-Speaking) – Male, 20s-40s. A runner who rounds a corner and collides with Steve, causing Steve’s ice cream cone to smash into his chest. Must be able to run and stop quickly.

Milo Casting is seeking Visually Impaired Individuals who use a guide dog for a City of Toronto campaign promoting pedestrian safety!

Looking For:

• 1. Male or female, roughly 30-50+ years of age, visually impaired
• 2. Must be visually impaired and use a certified guide dog or support animal that can attend the shoot with them
• 3. Previous on set experience not necessary, simply looking for REAL visually impaired individuals with great smiles and positive energy keen to support this public safety initiative!

Seeking Members of the Black Community for a CIBC Foundation Campaign in Toronto!

As part of an ongoing campaign, the CIBC Foundation is looking for members of the Black community to share their stories. Directed by award winning Hubert Davis, this documentary style campaign explores the process and preparation involved when looking for a job.

We are looking for several members of the Black community –

• candidates between the ages of 20 and 40,
• who are either in the process of entering a career in their chosen profession, or
• who are already established in their chosen profession.

This campaign aims to highlight different types of industries, while prioritizing science, technology, engineering and mathematics. We would also like testimonials from the following areas: finance, marketing, education, business and health. We are doing this campaign because we believe that everyone should have access to the resources and the support they need.

IF YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE, PLEASE PASS THIS ON. THIS IS A NON UNION PROJECT.

Compensation is $4,000.00 per person, if selected to participate in this campaign.
